BS Chassis History

The BS Chassis is very similar to the original FR-1 Chassis built by Randy’s Racemart in Memphis, Missouri. The FR-1 chassis has proven its worth with race winners Gary Blackburn Jr., Tony Fraise, the Folket Bothers, Bob Woodrow, and more.

Blackburn and Shay designed and fabricated a jig that was used to create the BS Chassis. With this jig, they produced their own race-winning car. During the winter of 2004, Gary Blackburn Jr. and Lonnie Wyman Jr. built a car on the jig for Wyman to race in the 2005 season.

It took Wyman a while to find the correct setup for the car, but when he did, it was an instant success. Wyman earned 2 consecutive wins late in the 2005 season, and finished second in championship points. His wins came on IMCA tires, while he raced against A-40 Hossier’s, which many said could not be done.

During the winter of 2005, Wyman and crew focused on adjusting the car to race with A-40 Hoosier tires. The hard work paid off, leading Wyman to a feature win on season opening night. Wyman went on to win a total of 7 feature races, and the 2006 B-modified track championship. In 2007, Wyman again won 7 feature races, and the 2007 B-modified track championship.

During the 2007 race season, Wyman begin building a new BS Chassis car to be raced by Wyman himself in the Pro-Mod series. This chassis has a new front-end style that is similar to a Bob Pierce car. Wyman will race this Pro-Mod car in 2008 along with his B-modified championship-winning car.

Either one of these chassis styles Wyman races, can be purchased at Wyman Enterprises L.L.C. The B-Mod chassis consists of the bare frame that comes with a metric front-end. The Pro-Mod chassis consists of the new style metric front-end with changed upper control arms, mounts, and Nova lower control arms.

Options can be added for additional cost. These options include chrome moly tubing, DOM tubing on rear hoop, the halo, and the down tubes, coil over bracket mount, and right rear floater bracket.

Also, if you have an FR-1 chassis that may need front or rear stubs repaired, or are in need of upper control arms for the FR-1 chassis, please contact Wyman Enterprises L.L.C for a quote.

The BS Chassis by Wyman uses a different left rear leaf spring than most other racers. This is also available at Wyman Enterprises L.L.C.
